Brearley School Announces New Head of School for 2012

The Brearley School is proud to announce the appointment of Jane Foley Fried as their 15th Head of School. Ms. Fried comes to Brearley from Phillips Academy Andover where she is the Dean of Admission and Assistant Head of Enrollment since 2006. She has led Andover's search geographically and fully embodies the school's motto: youth from every corner. She has played a vital role in Andover's $72 million financial aid fundraising and brings a wealth of knowledge to the upper east side school.

After graduating from Bowdoin College in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in history and philosophy she continued her studies at Tufts University where she received her master's in education. From there, she began her career in boarding schools at Suffield Academy.

An excpetional steward of and spokesperson of the Andover experience, Jane has read tens of thousands of application and has developed a "sixth sense" for finding students who have "the most to give and the most to gain" from an Andover education. Andover will miss her vision and leadership and we are deeply grateful for all she has done for the Academy.
-Barbara Landis Chase, Head of School at Andover
