Jim Rash, Lawrenceville '90, Gets Oscar Approval

Lawrentian Jim Rash '90, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Descendants, an American comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne (Sideways) based on a novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings. Including Rash's nomination, the movie received 6 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing, and Best Actor (Clooney).

The Descendants (2011), a critically-acclaimed box-office hit starring George Clooney has already won two Golden Globe Awards and looks keep its momentum going in the Oscars. While The Descendants isn't Rash's first feature film as a writer, it is the first to receive a nomination. He wrote and co-produced Adopted back in 2005 and is currently marketing a screenplay with writing partner Nat Faxon.



Rash is better known for his acting credits, including the ever popular TV series Community where he plays Dean Pelton; where he appears alongside Lawrenceville parent Chevy Chase P'02 '07. He also had a recurring role on Reno 911! in 2008 and 2009, That '70s Show between 2003 and 2006, and has also guest starred in Friends, Will & Grace, NCIS, CSI, and The Soup.
