Spotlight: Jason Wu, Loomis '01, Fashion Designer

Taiwan-born fashion designer Jason Wu is making waves in the fashion industry. He is a among the few whom went to prep school (Loomis '01) and the even fewer who attended a boarding school at the age of nine (Eaglebrook '98). Inspired by 1950's designers like Jacques Fath, he combines the old with the new, the ying with the yang, and now, the luxurious with the economical.

This past week, Feb. 5, Jason released a 53-piece line for Target with a price range of $19.99-$59.99. "My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection," Wu explains. "Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own."

The young designer has already won numerous awards including: Fashion Group International's Rising Star award in 2008, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist 2008, CFDA/Swarvoski Award Finalist 2009, CFDA/Swarvoski Award Winner 2010, etc.
